
The M-PAC Research Study
The M-PAC research study is being conducted by researchers at Arizona State University and is funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute on Aging.
The purpose of the study is to use virtual coaching and goal setting techniques to help people become more physically active. Participants will receive a Vivoactive 5 Garmin physical activity tracker, individualized, virtual coaching sessions, and up to $170 for their participation.

Physical activity and exercise are important for lowering risk for several chronic diseases, including heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and even Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. The
M-PAC research study is designed to identify ways to help people become more active in support of overall health.

Specifically, this study will use individualized, virtual coaching with goal setting to help you increase your physical activity. Goal setting is a common strategy people use when trying to increase their physical activity. However, it is not known which approaches to goal setting are most effective. This study will help answer this question. Results of this research have the potential to help others increase their physical activity and reduce their risk of Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias by identifying the most appropriate type of goal setting to increase physical activity.
